With the hashtag #johitoco (which means “I play”), the OFF Competition has promoted participation among music schools, conservatories and all those who dare to record a video explaining why they play the piano and what they like most about the practice, accompanied by a short musical interpretation. The winners of the “Students and amateurs competition” have the opportunity to play the grand piano at the Palau de la Música Catalana.
The jury of the "Students and amateurs competition" evaluates three aspects of the initiatives: the most original reason that motivates the participants to play the piano, the number of views the video has received (with the highest number of views being awarded), and the best editing and production. The goal is not to showcase or encourage virtuosity, but to promote musical practice in line with prevailing technological, social, and cultural trends.
First of all, you need to record your video with a camera or your mobile phone.
We ask you to say “I PLAY” before playing in your video.
Then, give a brief introduction of who you are, say which piece you will play, and explain what playing the piano means to you.
The more original your explanation is, the more chances you have to win.
Finally, play the piece you have prepared.
Next, upload your video to YouTube.
To upload it, you need to have your own YouTube channel.
If you have a Gmail email, you already have one by default.
If not, you will need to create a new one.
Once done, you can upload it to our YouTube channel, in the “Galeria dels Tocats”, through the web form.
When you upload the video to the YouTube channel, you must include the information we request in the description section:
