The Fundación Occident and the Maria Canals International Music Competition organize the activity “Grand pianos in Spanish cities”, which aims to surprise the citizens of different capitals of Spain with the placement of several grand pianos in the spaces more central audiences. For one day, the cities become authentic open-air music venues, in which the citizens themselves are the protagonists and can play and enjoy the piano in a participative day full of music.
Grand pianos in Spanish cities
"Gran pianos in Spanish cities" is a joint initiative by the Fundación Occident and the Maria Canals International Music Competition, aimed at promoting the universal practice and enjoyment of music through community participation. Cities become open-air stages with seven grand pianos—two of them grand concert pianos—available for anyone who wants to play.
The initiative takes place annually in Barcelona, Bilbao, and Madrid, as well as in two other cities on a rotating basis.
